US stocks open slightly higher after private payrolls data



U.S. stocks inched up in choppy trading on Wednesday after weaker-than-expected private payrolls data deepened concerns about the Trump administration’s erratic trade policies pressuring the labor market.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 54.5 points, or 0.13%, at the open to 42,574.13. The S&P 500 rose 8.6 points, or 0.14%, at the open to 5,978.94, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 36.0 points, or 0.19%, to 19,434.94 at the opening bell.
