US stocks open lower as Israel-Iran conflict hits risk appetite

Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Friday after Israel’s deadly strike on Iranian nuclear facilities inflamed tensions in the oil-rich Middle East and battered risk sentiment across global markets.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 388.1 points, or 0.90%, at the open to 42,579.48. The S&P 500 fell 44.7 points, or 0.74%, at the open to 6,000.56, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 211.6 points, or 1.08%, to 19,450.925 at the opening bell.
