NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed higher in the Monday’s session.

Rana Sugars Ltd.(up 0.19%) stood among the top gainers.

Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(down 3.39%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 2.93%), Ugar Sugar Works Ltd.(down 2.56%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)Ltd.(down 2.10%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(down 2.05%), Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd.(down 2.03%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 1.99%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 1.97%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 1.93%) and Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 1.85%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 227.91 points up at 24946.5, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 677.55 points at 81796.15.

Bharat Electronics Ltd.(up 2.45%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 2.43%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(up 2.42%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 2.36%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 2.11%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 2.1%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 1.71%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 1.68%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 1.64%) and Trent Ltd.(up 1.61%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Motors Ltd.(down 3.57%), Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.16%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 0.32%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.15%) closed in the red.
