Stock Market Sectors: Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls


NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Wednesday’s session.

Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 2.60%), EID Parry(India)Ltd.(up 1.14%) and KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(up 0.66%) stood among the top gainers.

Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(down 4.08%), Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd.(down 2.87%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 1.96%), DCM Shriram Industries Ltd.(down 1.59%), Rana Sugars Ltd.(down 1.47%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 1.38%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 1.33%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(down 1.29%), Mawana Sugars Ltd.(down 1.28%) and Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(down 1.15%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 41.36 points down at 24812.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 138.64 points at 81444.66.

IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 5.12%), Trent Ltd.(up 1.93%), Titan Company Ltd.(up 1.83%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 1.22%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.13%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.98%), Asian Paints Ltd.(up 0.74%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 0.6%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 0.57%) and Axis Bank Ltd.(up 0.49%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.82%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 1.42%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 1.35%), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 1.34%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 1.19%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(down 1.1%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 1.05%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.01%), Nestle India Ltd.(down 0.9%) and NTPC Ltd.(down 0.84%) closed in the red.
