Indices: Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.13%


NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

Shares of MphasiS Ltd.(up 1.82 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(up 0.43 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.41 per cent) and Infosys Ltd.(up 0.07 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.16 per cent), Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd.(down 1.13 per cent), Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 0.87 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.87 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(down 0.34 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.13 per cent down at 38996.25.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 304.25 points at 25549.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 1000.36 points at 83755.87.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 ended in the green, while 8 closed in the red. Shares of Vodafone Idea, Alok Industries, RattanIndia Power, YES Bank and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Ishan Dyes Chem, Lumax Auto Tech, Prabha Energy, Nuvama Wealth Mgmt and Indosolar Ltd hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Sadhana Nitro, Osia Hyper Retail, Uma Exports, Twentyfirst Cent and Gensol Engg hit their fresh 52-week lows.
