Indices: Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.3%


NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(up 1.12 per cent) and ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.57 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bank of Baroda(down 1.76 per cent), Federal Bank Ltd.(down 1.37 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 1.32 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.04 per cent) and HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 0.76 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.3 per cent down at 56459.75.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 37.16 points at 25141.4, while the BSE Sensex stood up 123.42 points at 82515.14.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red. Shares of RattanIndia Power, Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, JP Power and RattanIndia Infra were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Wockhardt, Prabha Energy, Capital India Fin, Camlin Fine Sc and Sundaram Finance hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Shree Ram Proteins, BSL Ltd, Picturepost Studios, Excel Realty N Infra and Viceroy Hotels hit their fresh 52-week lows.
