Punjab National Bank(up 2.67 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 1.95 per cent), Canara Bank(up 1.56 per cent), Federal Bank Ltd.(up 1.45 per cent) and IDFC First Bank Ltd.(up 1.02 per cent) were among the top gainers.
HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.29 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 0.66 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 0.54 per cent) and IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 0.32 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Bank index was down 0.23 per cent at 55621.75 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 137.0 points at 24613.7, while the BSE Sensex was down 469.37 points at 80981.64.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red. Shares of Reliance Power, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Niva Bupa Health Ins and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of IFB Agro, Pennar Ind, Lumax Auto Tech, Madhya Bharat Agro and Reliance Power hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Navkar Builders, SKIL Infrastructure, Shree Ram Proteins, Varanium Cloud and Signpost India hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
