Shares of Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 3.47 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 2.78 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 2.14 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 2.14 per cent) and Bharat Forge Ltd.(up 2.12 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 0.6 per cent) and MRF Ltd.(down 0.6 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.52 per cent up at 23661.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 252.15 points at 25003.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 746.95 points at 82188.99.
