Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 2.9 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(up 2.67 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 1.67 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(up 1.47 per cent) and TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 1.16 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, MRF Ltd.(down 2.72 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.48 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.05 per cent), Bosch Ltd.(down 0.27 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.12 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.04 per cent up at 23679.35.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 319.16 points at 25112.4, while the BSE Sensex stood up 1046.3 points at 82408.17.
