US stocks open higher as investors focus on trade, key jobs data

U.S. stock indexes opened higher on Thursday after signs of tariff negotiations between the U.S. and China, while investors looked ahead to a key jobs report to gauge the health of the labor market amid trade uncertainties.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 60.2 points, or 0.14%, at the open to 42487.89. The S&P 500 rose 14.9 points, or 0.25%, to 5985.67, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 57.7 points, or 0.30%, to 19518.197.
