The NSE Nifty50 index ended 136.7 points down at 22399.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 379.93 points at 73847.15.
Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 3.1%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 3.06%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 2.66%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 1.87%), Titan Company Ltd.(up 1.67%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 1.55%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 1.17%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(up 1.13%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 1.03%) and Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 1.0%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
