Indices: Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.36%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of MRF Ltd.(up 0.91 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(up 0.33 per cent), Bosch Ltd.(up 0.21 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 0.15 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.07 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Exide Industries Ltd.(down 2.41 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 1.42 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.21 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.8 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.67 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.36 per cent down at 23327.4.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 169.61 points at 24718.6, while the BSE Sensex stood down 573.38 points at 81118.6.


Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 ended in the green, while 41 closed in the red. Shares of Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, RattanIndia Power, Suzlon Energy and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of DB Realty, Oswal Agro Mill, Nazara Technologies, Narayana Hruday and Ishan Dyes Chem hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Shree Ram Proteins, Bluspring Enterprises Ltd., Navkar Builders, Lasa Supergenerics and Geekay Wires hit their fresh 52-week lows.
