Indices: Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.19%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Bosch Ltd.(up 1.11 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 1.08 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 0.95 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 0.72 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(up 0.57 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 1.98 per cent), MRF Ltd.(down 0.71 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.55 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 0.52 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.48 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.19 per cent up at 23805.2.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 37.16 points at 25141.4, while the BSE Sensex stood up 123.42 points at 82515.14.


Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red. Shares of RattanIndia Power, Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, JP Power and RattanIndia Infra were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Wockhardt, Prabha Energy, Capital India Fin, Camlin Fine Sc and Sundaram Finance hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Shree Ram Proteins, BSL Ltd, Picturepost Studios, Excel Realty N Infra and Viceroy Hotels hit their fresh 52-week lows.
