Indices: Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.25%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of Bharat Forge Ltd.(up 1.08 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.69 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 0.59 per cent) and Bosch Ltd.(up 0.41 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, MRF Ltd.(down 1.9 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 1.32 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.09 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 0.74 per cent) and TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 0.68 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.25 per cent down at 23268.7.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 174.1 points at 24542.5, while the BSE Sensex stood down 636.24 points at 80737.51.


Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 7 ended in the green, while 43 closed in the red. Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Ola Electric Mobilit, Reliance Power and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of GRSE, FIEM Industries, Aegis Vopak Terminal, Mangalore Chem and Radico Khaitan hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Capital Infra Trust, Aakash Exploration, Osia Hyper Retail, Signpost India and Ganga Forging hit their fresh 52-week lows.
